PWA App (Installable)

Install FieldWaiver as a Progressive Web App on tablets and phones for an app-like experience.

What the installable app is

FieldWaiver is a web app that can be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA). Once installed, it has its own icon on the home screen and opens in its own window without the browser's address bar, like an app downloaded from a store. It is the same FieldWaiver you use in the browser, so there is nothing separate to update or pay for.

The installed app caches its own files on the device, so it can open without a connection once it has been loaded online, and it uses the same offline storage and background sync as the browser version.

What you get with the PWA

  • ✓Install on iPad and Android tablets and phones from the browser
  • ✓A home screen icon that opens FieldWaiver in its own window
  • ✓Opens without a connection once installed and loaded
  • ✓An install prompt on phones and tablets, which you can dismiss or postpone
  • ✓A prompt to reload when a new version of the app is available

How to install it

  1. Open app.fieldwaiver.com on the device and sign in.
  2. Accept the "Install FieldWaiver" prompt if it appears.
  3. If it does not, use the browser menu and choose "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App". On iPad and iPhone this is in Safari's Share menu.
  4. Open FieldWaiver from the new home screen icon and let it load your forms while you are connected.

When it matters

Front desks, gates and field teams need a tool that opens in one tap and does not get lost among browser tabs. Installing the PWA gives every check-in tablet the same icon and the same behaviour, without managing app store accounts or waiting for store updates. If someone with the app installed opens FieldWaiver in a normal browser tab, the app offers to switch them to the installed version.

Limits to be aware of

Installation options depend on the browser and operating system; some browsers show an install prompt and others only offer it from their menu. Clearing the browser's data or uninstalling can remove submissions that have not synced yet, so check nothing is waiting to upload first. The PWA is not a device lock; for unattended tablets, use your device's own guided access or management tools.
