Network Outage Resilience
If your venue WiFi drops, FieldWaiver keeps collecting waivers so operations don't stop.
Most venues have a good connection most of the time. The trouble is the Saturday afternoon when the broadband fails, the router needs a restart or the provider has an outage, and a full session is waiting at the desk.
The problem when the connection drops
If your waiver system only works online, an outage means turning people away, delaying sessions or letting them participate before they have signed. Switching to paper for an hour creates a second set of records that someone has to type up and match later.
How FieldWaiver handles it
- Devices are ready before anything goes wrong. Staff devices that have been signed in and have opened the forms while online hold those forms locally.
- Collection carries on. When the connection drops, staff keep completing forms and capturing signatures. Each response is saved on the device it was taken on.
- Staff can see what is pending. The sidebar shows how many submissions are waiting to upload, and photos still waiting are listed in settings.
- Sync resumes by itself. When the connection is back, FieldWaiver sends queued records in the background and retries if an attempt fails. Nobody has to re-enter anything.
- Emails follow the records. Organiser notifications and participant receipts are sent after each record reaches the server.
Setup checklist
- ✓Install FieldWaiver on each desk device and sign in at the start of the day.
- ✓Open every form you might need so it is stored on the device.
- ✓Practise an outage: disconnect a device, submit a test response, reconnect and confirm it arrives.
- ✓Tell staff not to clear browser data, sign out or uninstall the app while anything is waiting to upload.
- ✓If you use a kiosk tablet, have a staff device ready to take over during an outage.

Questions
What stops working during an outage?
Collecting on prepared staff devices continues. Anything that needs the server waits: editing forms, conditions and automations, managing users and settings, submitting through public or kiosk links, and sending emails. Records on one device are not visible elsewhere until they sync.
Do staff need to do anything when the internet comes back?
No action is needed to start the upload, as sync runs in the background. Do check that the waiting-to-upload count has cleared before you close the app or put the device away.
Can collecting offline get round our plan limit?
No. The monthly submission allowance is checked when records upload, so responses taken offline after the limit is reached will not upload until the next period or an upgrade. Check your allowance on the pricing page.
